DSC_0598_black_squirrel3.jpgUsed the dSLR Tools (from Noel Carboni) clarify action here, along with some creative sharpening from pksharpener. Worked fairly well, although I should have painted out the noise in the squirrel's underside as I did with the next version. Clarify appears to be most of what the Outback Photo detail extractor (used on the next photo) is doing.

DSC_0598_black_squirrel4.jpgUsed the Outback Photo detail extractor here ... had to paint out the rather violent grain introduced in the background. I don't see this is a huge increment over the detail rendered by the previous use of the dSLR Tools clarify action. But this one is very configurable.

Series starting here was shot at Mud Lake on 2 July 2007. The lake is covered near shore in a blanket of algae and plants. Turtles bask in the sun on any rock or log.

Dead spiders (I think) hung out under a broken stump. Well above my head, I happened to notice it walking by and trained the tele on it.

Klingon. This huge mushroom attached itself to a small stump and just hung there in the air. I set the tripod low to shoot at it's level.

The same mushroom from a slightly higher perspective. Tried shooting it at f22 to get as much in focus as possible. Very difficult to get the whole thing. Tried another shot at f45, but diffraction softened the whole thing.

Walking by a spot where a fungus covered log sat in dappled shade. The sun was hitting this spot directly, making it look quite dazzling. Difficult to capture the look, but here it is in monochrome. Went monochrome because there was no color anyway.

Came across this *stunning* dragonfly on the way back to the car. This shot demonstrates how clean the image is from the 300 F4 with the TC17e. It can be very good.
