The snow was really blowing today ... and the wind chill was horrific. Note the "river" of snow blowing quickly enough to blur along the parking surface.

post processing included light to moderate Neat Image, curves to adjust contrast (s-curve) and to set white, black and mid points (color cast removal), local contrast enhancement (just a bit), resizing using bicubic interpolation, and finally a small amount of USM to enhance the cart.

A hopefully dramatic presentation of the same photo in B&W. I cranked up the contrast in curves and added strong local contrast enhancement. I then sized it and used moderate USM to make the cart stand out and ensure sparkle in the snow.

The weather has been pretty snowy and stormy this winter. In the first week of 2006, we are getting inundated with yet more snow.

And the snow keeps piling on ... several days of snow left these poor fellows swamped.

Lovely summer torrential downpour. Shot from the steering wheel while trying, oddly, to steer.

A lone sentinel guards the geese as they feed in preparation for the long trip south. Note the lack of snow for a 16 December in the northeast. Loving it. Note also the wicked sharpness of the 18-200VR racked out to full and stopped down only 1/3 stop to f6.3.

On a trip to Toronto, we had a delay at the Smith's Falls staion, where a storm rolled over us. I really juiced up the color in this one to get it to look a bit more interesting.

This is a duotone version of the same shot, which I much prefer because I think the rain is the subject and not the tracks and the field in the background. I ultimately entered this as "The Rain in Spain falls Mainly on my Train" on Panachallenge and had a top ten with this iamge.

A sun shower ... I remember these as a kid and had not seen one in years. Very cool to see the late evening sun glinting off the drops. Pretty smooth and detailed for a 1600iso shot.
