The Beaver Swamp is a nice set of trails around a swamp with stops at a beaver dam and a fairly large meadow where deer and insects live. I spent this morning shooting dragonflies and other stuff. I always shoot hand held, simply because insects move constantly and I am impatient. But I shoot with flash, so I get decent hit rates. My setup today was the D70s with the Sigma 105mm Macro. I used the SB600 flash in TTL-BL mode and I added an Omni-Bounce to soften the light, plus Joe Demb's Flip-it Jr. reflector on top of that to redirect extra light down to the insects. I think it worked very well, but judge for yourself.
