A year where we've had several storms since mid-November with another on the way in mid-December. Shoveling several times a week has not happened in a long time. This album is dedicated to capturing the fresh snow.

Well ... 15 December and the storm has hit. 40-60cm over a 24 hour period.

We were spared ... we got only 35cm (about a foot and a half) of snow ... Montreal apparently got the full 60cm.

And the storms continue ... had to use the new snow blower a couple of times in January and then thee times in late February and early March. Quite the year.

The great storm of March 7 through March 9 2008 left us challenging for the highest overall snowfall on record. I went out to pick my son up from a party at about 1:30am on the 9th and was blown away by the amount of snow everywhere. Ever our largest streets were defined buy a pair of tracks through nearly a foot of snow. And I'd only been out 90 minutes before that, when the roads were much more passable. Turning onto Nick's friend's street was a nightmare, as there were no tracks defining it. And my window was still partially obscured. But I made it, parked in the middle of the street, cleaned off the window, and managed to get home. Nick was very excited to see this much snow, since it is the largest amount we've had in his lifetime. He ran in, got dressed while I grabbed the camera, and went out to play in the front yard (he's 20 :-) while I took some photographs of where we stood at that time.

The next morning, I popped over to Jon's friend's house and found that all the side streets were still unplowed ... worse, the snow was so high that it made buffeting sounds on the bottom of the car. Meaning that a stop in the middle of the road was risky. Many cars on the street while people blew out their driveways ... and finally, arrival at home with a 2.5 hour snow blowing session. Sheesh ...
